To celebrate the launch of the Wahoo Fitness ELEMNT ROAM computer we were asked to plan a bike ride to highlight some of the unique features of this new computer. The highlight of Roam is the ability to navigate on the fly. Embracing the “adventure” element of cycling you can head out for a bike ride and improvise where you end up. Using the map feature on the computer you can locate interesting gravel roads, trails and coffee shops to point your bicycle towards then hit go and magically end up at that location (some pedaling is required).
The ride call went out, we gathered the friends of Ornot, and headed out for a casual 40 mile spin in Marin County. Rather quickly our dry ride turned to a wet rainy adventure. It was cold, a few people were underprepared, but the crew was phenomenal, we didn't get lost, and managed to shred some bonus dirt that had now absorbed enough water to transform into mud (#crossiscoming after all). Speaking of shredding, we also burned through a few sets of disk brake pads.
The ELEMNT ROAM delivered us back to the city and freshly brewed coffee courtesy of Equator Coffees at Fort Mason. Snacks, heat, swag, more heat and we were set although still a bit damp. An adventurous day but a good one when spent with friends new and old. Can't wait to do it again.
Thanks to our friends at Strava, SIS, Equator Coffees, and Bobos for the help with this ride!
Up next, a dirt adventure with no rain...
