What makes this jacket "Magic"? Its breathability. Our magic shell is so soft, stretchy, and breathable that it's won multiple awards as "best winter cycling jacket". But here's the secret: the fabric is also waterproof! So, how do we make it even better? For 2025, we've updated the design with three rear pockets and incorporated Polartec's Power Sheld Pro® featuring a plant-based waterproof membrane.
Made right here in California with taped and bonded seams, there's no other jacket like it. The soft, PFAS-free, stretchy fabric allows you to wear it with layers or a jersey to dial in your comfort whether you run hot or cold. Now, with rear pockets, you can take it all and are always prepared if it starts to rain. We recommend this jacket for temperatures between 32 and 55 degrees. Taped & Bonded in the US
The best water-resistant jackets use a technological process that melts a special tape between fabric layers and bonds them together when heat is applied. This process creates a seam without the need for traditional sewing stitches. Classic sewing methods are great but allow some moisture to seep in during heavy and sustained rain.
Bonded seams create a smooth transition between panels to improve comfort and increase water repellency. The Magic Shell is one of the only taped & bonded jackets constructed in the US. We're still not going to call it 100% waterproof, but it's in the 99% zone.

WHY MAGIC?
Years of real-world testing across various conditions, including heavy fog, biting winds, and more rain than we prefer, have left us with no other explanation. This jacket is pure Magic when you need protection from the elements. Every inch of the 3-layer 4-way stretch knit fabric is waterproof and breathable, especially in inclement weather. You could call it California waterproof, Ornot.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Polartec® Power Shield® features a proprietary, patented construction process creating a new hydrophobiac, microporous membrane with a tightly controlled range of pore sizes. It has the durability and stretch of a polyurethane film plus the breathability of a microporous structure. This unique construction allows for positive air exchange to drive moisture vapor release while remaining completely waterproof. It does all of this at a fraction of the weight of current membrane technologies so a garment made of Neoshell is lighter, softer, and more supple.
